Stephanie Mitelman is a certified sexuality educator, and a Canadian certified family educator. She has a BA in Sociology and Women's Studies, a Certificate in Family Life Education and a Masters in Sociology (2005). Stephanie is a speaker on sexual health for the National Speakers Bureau. She is also an Instructor at McGill University in the Department of Educational Counseling and Psychology and an Instructor at Concordia University in the Department of Applied Human Sciences. She is a member of the AASECT committee for certification in sexuality education, and is the Past President of the Association of Family Life Educators of Quebec. As an educator, she has designed and facilitates a comprehensive program for adolescents which has been implemented in several high schools. She has also developed a workshop about adolescent sexuality for parents of teens, and is a regular trainer with teachers on comprehensive sex education. Stephanie has also made contributions in establishing programs of sexual health in the Cree communities of Quebec. She is also the creator of the Sex Education Classroom Activity Kits designed for teachers, and distributed by Educational Resources. She is a regular expert voice in the National media on issues of sexuality, teens and health. She has made appearances on the television shows Sex Files on the Discovery Channel, Sexual Secrets on the Life Network and Let’s Talk About Sex on MENTV. Stephanie is the only certified sexuality educator in Montreal and gives hundreds of lectures a year to youth. Her work focuses primarily on prevention of pregnancy and STI/ HIV transmission. Her appearances in High Schools, Colleges, Universities, and Social Organizations are sponsored in part by Durex Condoms and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
