Rick has just started professional public speaking, on a fee for service basis, due to the demands upon his time.  He is accustomed to speaking to audiences of various sizes due to his business and social activities. He is a “tell it like it is” kind of guy. He enjoys talking and interacting with youth of all ages and does so by coaching Senior A Men's and Midget Competitive Youth hockey.

Rick Buckingham has been featured in over 50 newspaper articles outlining his dedication and support of the Saint John Sea Dogs in his capacity as their Chairman of the Advisory Board.  He has also been featured in many business articles for his success in business.

Rick started his business career with the McCain and Jodrey Families in senior positions.  He was involved, at a senior level, with the establishment of Same Day Courier for Day and Ross (McCain) and Polestar Transportation Inc. (Jodrey).

From Same Day, to the founding of Star Choice Satellite and the purchase of 2 for 1 Pizza, Rick has seen business from the top down and the bottom up.  He holds no illusions of instant entrepreneurial success or any get rich quick ideas.  His story is a realist one full of the ups and downs of the entrepreneurial world.

He has been asked by the UNB Fredericton MBA program to speak to the students on numerous occasions from the "out side of the text book" real world of business.

He is a "no holds barred" speaker of substance and reality with the sugar coating peeled away to expose the sometimes difficult and gut wrenching side of being personally "on the line" for all of your decisions.

He is currently a contributing editor for the Telegraph Journal Tuesday Business section with a column entitled, “ Straight From the Hip”.  His next articles due on February 14, 2006 is entitled "The opportunity of defeat"
